What are my medications?
Pain medications are frequently prescribed for incisional pain and headaches. Do not take Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, or Asprin after surgery. These NSAID medications and others such as Coumadin or Plavix can cause bleeding at the site of surgery. Talk with your doctor to find out when it is safe to take these medications after surgery.
Dilantin is a medication given to prevent seizure. Decadron is a steroid that is used to treat swelling of the brain. Both Dilantin and Decadron are medications that must be taken carefully as prescribed, and should not be stopped suddenly. Talk with your doctor about the dose you are taking and how long you must continue the medication.
